凑成十的伙伴
针鼹梅莉喜欢小小的谜题。她喜欢敲一敲数字，想一会儿，然后等着一个友好的答案。一天早上，她和箱龟塔维、友好的蜘蛛苏拉一起，急急忙忙赶到火车站的站台。 一辆蒸汽火车停在站台旁边。它的铃铛轻轻地“叮”了一声。木桌上放着一块写着九的数字牌，旁边还有一个空位。 “每个数字都找到伙伴，火车才会开走。”苏拉说，“两个伙伴加在一起，必须正好是十。” 梅莉认真地想。塔维用一只脚轻轻敲着桌子。“我们先试试一个小一点的数字吧。”他说。 梅莉拿起写着一的数字牌，把它放在九的旁边。九加一，十！ 火车开心地“噗”了一声。梅莉的心也开心地蹦了一下。 “每个数字都能找到伙伴吗？”她问。
“我们可以找找看。”塔维说，“我们可以慢慢数。” 苏拉从桌子上拉出一根银色的丝线，一直牵到花园门口。“跟着我的丝线来！”她喊道，“下一个谜题就在外面等着呢。” 他们穿过车站花园。在一条矮矮的木坡道旁边，一块滑板停在地上。坡道上放着写着八的数字牌，苏拉的蜘蛛网上还有一块写着二的牌子。 “八加二。”梅莉说。她数着自己的爪子。“八，再加两个。十！” 塔维笑了。“一个大数字，可能只需要一个小伙伴。” 接着，滑板沿着坡道轻轻地滑了下来。梅莉把两只爪子放在滑板上。塔维爬到她后面，苏拉拉着一根系在滑板旁边的丝线。嗖！他们滑过花朵，停在火车旁边。 草地上还放着两块数字牌。一块写着七，另一块写着三。
“七加三！”苏拉喊道，“它们也能凑成十！” 火车铃铛响了两声。花园好像也和他们一起哼起了歌。 朋友们爬进了数字车厢。火车开始“咔嚓咔嚓”地开动。车厢里有一块黄铜板，上面有一些放数字伙伴的小格子。梅莉看见一个格子里是六，旁边的格子里是四。 “六加四。”她轻声说，“又是十。” 塔维找到了两块写着五的数字牌。他把它们并排放好。“五加五。”他说，“它们也是伙伴。” 梅莉拍了拍爪子。“这些数字就像野餐时的朋友。他们带来的东西，正好是大家需要的。” 突然，火车慢了下来。黄铜板发出轻轻的一声咔哒。它的一排格子里还少最后一对伙伴。梅莉的肚子摇了摇。难道他们忘记了一个数字？ 苏拉看了看长椅下面。塔维看了看黄铜板后面。梅莉把每一块数字牌都看了一遍。这里有从一到九的数字牌，可是它们全都混在了一起。
“让我们想一想。”塔维说，“九需要一。八需要二。七需要三。六需要四。五需要五。” 梅莉把这些伙伴一对一对地排在地板上。她用一只爪子碰了碰每一对。它们排成了整齐的小图案。火车开始发出温暖的金色光芒。 最后，蒸汽火车到达了月光下的山顶车站。星星下面有一条长长的长椅。朋友们把五对伙伴摆在长椅上：九和一，八和二，七和三，六和四，五和五。 苏拉在自己的蜘蛛网上跳起舞来。塔维骄傲地点了点头。梅莉看着整整一排数字。 “一到九的每个数字都有伙伴。”她说，“而且每一对加起来都是十！” 火车发出了它最大的一声“噗”！梅莉、塔维和苏拉笑了起来，笑声在山坡上回荡。 然后，梅莉在长椅上发现了另一个空位。她在那里放了一颗小小的木星星。它不是数字，而是一个提醒：当朋友需要帮助时，就要看看、数一数，找到合适的伙伴。 三个朋友在星星下坐着火车回家，准备迎接下一个谜题。
